All scrap metal is created equal.

Rusted Metal Cannot Be Recycled. 

This is also not true. While it’s true that rusted metal is more difficult to recycle, it can still be recycled. It will just fetch a lower price than clean metal.

Metal Recycling Is Unprofitable

Metal recycling is definitely profitable, but you have to know what you’re doing. If you try to recycle scrap metal without knowing the market, you’re likely to lose money.

Large Metal Pieces are Worth More Than Smaller Pieces

Again, this is not always the case. The value of scrap metal depends on a number of factors, including the type of metal and its condition. Larger pieces might be worth more, but they’re also more difficult to recycle.

You Have to Strip the Metal of All Paint and Rust

This is definitely not the case. In fact, leaving the paint and rust on the metal can actually increase its value.

All Copper Wires are Made From Pure Copper 

This isn’t always the case. Copper wiring can also contain other metals, like brass or aluminium. All scrap metal collectors should always keep an eye out for scrap copper, which is one of the most valuable non-precious metals. While this metal is often used in the creation of plumbing pipes, it can also be found in wiring, coins and other household items.

You Can’t Recycle Metal from Appliances.

This isn’t true either. Almost all appliances contain metal that can be recycled. In fact, recycling metal from appliances is a great way to reduce your carbon footprint. Also, recycling these appliances can help keep them out of landfills.
